Advancing Sinhala Language Technology Through Research

We are conducting long-term research to develop an advanced Sinhala language spelling and grammar checking system. Our goal is to create a powerful tool that helps users write accurate and high-quality Sinhala by automatically detecting and correcting spelling and language errors.

This research project, named Devadara, has been in development for several years. Throughout this journey, we have continuously explored new approaches, improved our language models, and expanded our understanding of Sinhala linguistic patterns. Although significant progress has been made, our research is still ongoing as we work toward building a reliable and intelligent solution for the Sinhala language.

We are proud to announce that Devadara has been selected as one of the Top 50 Innovations in Sri Lanka under the Dialog Innovation Challenge 2025. This recognition highlights the potential impact of our research and encourages us to continue pushing the boundaries of Sinhala language technology.

Our mission extends beyond creating a spell checker. We aim to contribute to the future of Sinhala digital communication by developing language technologies that support education, content creation, software development, and everyday writing.
